OUR MODEL
ADVERSITY & TRAUMA
Trauma is harm to the body, self or spirit and include Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) such as abuse, neglect, missing a parent, exposed to a caregiver who is mentally ill, exposure to drug use by a family member, systemic racism, community violence, and poverty. The more ACEs a child experiences the more likely he or she will suffer from emotional instability, learning and academic challenges, and long term physical health problems.
The HGP Resiliency Prescription
Resilience is the ability to "bounce back" from long-term trauma to achieve life goals and emotional equilibrium, and to adopt sustainable, lasting healthy habits.
HGP focuses on building resiliency where there is trauma, tapping into the healing forces that exist within the communities you serve.
HGP Objectives
Facilitate supportive adult-child relationships
Strengthen adaptive skills and self-regulatory capacities
Increase parents’ and families’ sense of self-efficacy and perceived control
Mobilize faith, hope and cultural traditions
As of 2018, HGP also provides alternative training solutions for large service agencies or third-party firms engaging with national or international corporations with a presence in our region. By engaging us as a strategic partner, your organization can free up human capital to refocus on core competencies.
